DIY: Sophisticated Cork Board

It's pretty usual to come across a cork board. Whether in an office, ones kitchen or even in a play room, most boards have one thing in common: dull, dull and dull!

We made this pink and gold custom cork board for a home office. We think it is pretty amazing & functional.

With only three materials needed to create these custom boards, try making your very own sophisticated cork board and send us a pic!

Here's what you need:
*Cork board
*Your favourite fabric (check out your local fabric stores - this is the fun part!)
*Push Pins (we chose gold)

 1. Tightly pull your fabric over the board and staple it into place.
 2. Once it is tightly wrapped, add studs around the boarder (your eyes may go blurry but make sure they are straight!!)
3. Pin your favourite prints, slogans, to do lists etc.. the best part nothing is permanent!

AFi - What attracted you?
Josh - The unique space and the boutique style building, high-rises give me the willies. Also Liberty Village is booming with young working professionals that are starting off their careers, I wanted to be surrounded by that energy.
AFi - Favourite feature?

Want List

My newest addition to my HUGE and unrealistic wish list are the Drip Tease and Lip Tease mugs  (I can’t decide between the two - but this is a wish list so I don't have to choose) from British-Japanese designer Reiko Kaneko. Reiko has managed to change the typical bone china image from what was once considered traditional to now a little humorous. Instead of floral prints she has made witty flaws on her pieces like lipstick stains in platinum and gold (100% real gold).
Now back to my wish list..
While were at it I wouldn't mind the tea pot ;)
Alright the whole collection will do

Father's Day Gift Guide

Let me guess. Father's Day is less than a week from now and you still don't have a gift? Fear not, AFI has got you covered! Dad's are tough. But we're going to make it reaaaaal easy for you.

Sign em up! A subscription is the gift that keeps on giving.
1. The Mantry is a food-of-the-month club for the dudes. It allows guys to discover anything from BBQ sauce crafted in the backwoods of Alabama, to award winning bison jerky from the hills of Montana. Each month your dad will receive a box full of an assortment of everything he needs to stock his pantry and serve a manly meal.

2. Monocle is a wicked magazine that brings hip and relevant editorial content into your home. It covers an array of "guy" topics, and is sure to excite your dad on delivery every month. Plus, a subscription to the magazine gives you access to the Monocle archive on Monocle.com

3. The Napoleon Apollo AS300K 3-in-1 Smoker. It's true, the name is a mouthful, but that's nothing compared to the mouth full of delicious, savoury, fall off the bone, baby back  ribs your dad is going to whip up with this monster. This smoker grill works for wet and dry smoking, and acts as a standalone grill. Get this for your dad and you will undoubtedly become his new favourite child.

4. Eames Black Ash Lounge Chair and Ottoman is the ultimate in quality and luxurious design - no one does it better than Eames. This chair has been on the market for nearly 60 years, and isn't going away any time soon. Say "Sayonara" to that eyesore La-Z-Boy. Trust me, your Mother will thank you.

5. This Office Organizer does it all. With smart compartments for pens, pencils, scissors, reading glasses,  iPhone, wallet, etc., your dad will be wondering where he kept all his stuff before this came along. Plus, it's made from hand-picked slabs of wood. wood=manly. done.

6. Manly Pillows. I moustache you a question... how adorable is this pillow?! This pillow, and many others like it on cafepress.ca, are a guaranteed way to bring some masculinity into your dad's space. Throw it on his couch in the office, or add some comfort to his man-cave.

7. The Batman Logo Evolution Poster will bring your dad from geek to chic. Comic books aren't just for kids, y'know! This cool print is an excellent way to add some modern whimsy to a dry and drab room.

8. Jazz Life. This coffee table book, brought to you by photographer William Claxton and musicologist Joachim Berendt, is an amazing collaboration and collection of photographs and recordings of legendary artists and unknown street musicians. Not only is the content amazing, but it will look incredibly cool in any room of your house. This means major points with both dad and mom.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day!
