Herb Garden

Accessorize with nature in your very own home!
It's time to start planting and making some fresh decisions for this spring season. For those of you who do not have room for a garden in your backyard, try creating your very own in a small area or even indoors. Also a great way to save money, herb gardens will prevent the need to repurchase fresh flowers. Having fresh herbs around the house also encourages healthy choices when cooking. Fresh herbs not only add an extra kick to any recipe, but is also a healthier way to add flavour. It not only smells amazing, but adds a fresh and bright look to the home!

Do It Yourself: Cork Boards

Do you find yourself constantly throwing out waste thinking there can be more to be done with it? That's how i felt when disposing of corks from wine bottles, so I began collecting them in a large plastic  jar. After many years...okay months, but who's counting? the collection had grown quite a bit and I was ready to find something creative and functional to be done with them. One idea stood out and I thought it would be a great use of the corks to create my very own cork board and frame it for my kitchen.

I tried it out and it was simple to do and turned out looking fabulous!

Here's how to try it yourself:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
LOTS of corks, a glue gun and knife
STEP ONE:
Cut each cork in half with your knife...right down the middle, as even as possible

STEP TWO:
Start gluing the half-corks together in consistent rows and as evenly as possible
STEP THREE:
Glue the rows together to create one large sheet
STEP FOUR:
Frame it!
This is where your very own unique style has a change to shine. Choose any frame that matches the room you wish to put the board in.

Try turning the corks elongated to get a completely different look!

Simple DIY

I bought this amazing sea fan from Etsy when I went to frame it I got a quote of $150! Unacceptable to me I went to Ikea and bought a frame. After being inspired by The Marilyn Dennis show I decided to take the plunge and go matless.

All you need is a glue gun and a frame.
I placed one dot of glue at the bottom of the sea fan and stuck it on the glass - I love the way it will look against the light grey wall.
